LifeWorks Pilates Class Descriptions

General Open

These classes cater for all levels from beginner to advanced. Exercises can be done at three different levels according to your experience and limitations. You will be guided to which level you should work at. Fitballs, foam rollers, magic circles, bands and small balls are used during many of the classes.

Back Care/beginner classes

These classes run for 5 weeks and are specifically designed for beginners and people suffering with back pain. They are taught by a physiotherapist and can be claimed on private health funds. The focus  is on correct alignment/posture, aiming to improve the strength of the deep core muscles that stabilise the spine, as well as improving spinal mobility and general flexibility. Please enquire about the next starting date for this class.

Intermediate/advanced

These classes are ideal for athletes/surfers or those who have attended pilates for a while. They are not appropriate for people with injuries or major limitations. Small apparatus as above will be used whenever possible. This is a drop in class held at the CWA Hall (behind Community Centre, Mackney Lane,Lennox Head) Tuesdays 5.30pm. Cost is $16. Mats can be hired for $3 or bring your own (thick pilates mat). Contact Alison for more information. This class will begin Tuesday 7th February 2012.

Private Classes

A private or semi-private lesson is encouraged for all new clients, particularly if you haven’t attended mat pilates before or have any type of injury/pain. During these classes, the principles of pilates will be explained as well as deep abdominal core activation, pilates breathing technique, different positions and neutral spine. You will gain more benefit from regular classes if you attend a private lesson.
