Pilates works on muscles to help you feel stronger, more flexible, balanced, and more energised.
We have 7 state of the art Reformer machines which provide challenging and dynamic workouts that focus on strengthening the whole body! The Reformer also allows for deep and controlled stretching of the spine, hip flexors, hamstrings and glutes, allowing you to stand taller and move more freely through your day. Both Mat and Reformer exercises build a great foundation for any sporting pursuits and develops effective movement patterns, increased coordination and balance.
All our classes and appointments are focused on achieving the best results for you. Both Mat and Reformer classes offer similar benefits. Mat classes are a great way to learn the foundations of Pilates including neutral spine, alignment and breathing technique. We use small props during these classes including bands, small balls and circles. Reformer classes add more variety to the traditional mat exercises, use springs and pulleys to add or decrease resistance plus add more challenge/endurance. You can increase muscle tone and define your abdominal, leg, arm and back muscles faster by using a reformer. Not sure which way to go? Why not try one of each and speak to your instructor for advice.
There are 6 exercise principles of the pilates method: concentration, control, centring, precision, flowing movement and breathing. All of these principles are used with each exercise to give you a full-body workout. You can immediately start applying the 6 principles into everyday life and with persistence, great results can be achieved.

Private lessons enable you and your instructor to work together towards your own goals. Lifeworks offer safe and effective one on one lessons and Duets to help you gain complete body strength and improved movement patterns. Exercises and stretches will be given specifically for what you need to help gain better body awareness, improved posture, decreased pain and correct alignment. Our aim is to build core strength, to help prevent injuries and to assist you to live life pain feee and with agility. Once your instructor feels you are safe to join a small group class, you will be moved into Reformer 101 classes.
The exercises work on strengthening muscles and lengthening others to help stabilise the spine, pelvis, shoulders and legs to create a solid base of support and promote centering (good posture). The beauty of the exercises is that you will feel stronger, taller, more toned and have more energy. Pilates is challenging. It takes commitment and time, there are no short cuts to a better body. One or two sessions of pilates is not enough to make significant changes. “You will feel better in 10 sessions, look better in 20 sessions, and have a completely new body in 30 sessions.” (Joseph Pilates).
